How to tell if a classroom AI is safe?

Powerful AI is arriving in childhood whether anyone is ready or not. Most of it is a black box — no one can see how it decides, and no one can promise a child is safe inside it. Before you let any AI near a student, here are four questions worth asking.

1. Can it explain itself?

Ask for the reason behind any recommendation. If “why did it do that?” cannot be answered in plain English, that is a warning sign. Olamis is built so every action can be checked and explained.

2. Who is in charge?

A trustworthy tool suggests; a human decides. Nothing important should happen automatically. In Olamis, a person is always in the loop.

3. What happens to the data?

Ask whether a child’s real name is stored and whether their information can stay inside the school or home. Olamis keeps students anonymous and can run entirely on your own infrastructure.

4. Does it do the child’s thinking?

The best tools guide; they do not hand over the answer. The thinking should stay the student’s. That is the whole point.
